DC 2018 - Day 1 (June 6, 2018)

Today was an excellent first day of our trip!  We had a smooth, traffic-free, ride down to D.C. and cooperative weather (relatively cool and overcast) for all of our outdoor touring.

As soon as we got to the D.C. area, we were off to Arlington National Cemetery for a two-hour walking tour, including the site of today's special ceremony to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Robert Kennedy's assassination and the changing of the guard.

For the rest of the afternoon and early evening, our tour guide brought us to the Iwo Jima Memorial, U.S. Air Force Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, and Korean Memorial.

After that, we stopped for some souvenirs, dropped off our guide, grabbed dinner at Au Bon Pain and took a brief ride into Virginia to check into our hotel in Herdnon, where the kids settled in rather quickly.

They should sleep very well - once tonight's NBA Finals game is over, at least... (if my watch is correct, we took more than 16,000 steps and walked almost 8 miles!)

Have a good night.  Feel free to email me if you need to reach out.  Another update to follow tomorrow...
