Washington D.C. 2016
Today's tour of the White House grounds / Visitor center and the Air and Space / American History Museums is complete and we are on the bus, heading home to Teaneck.
Factoring in a quick stop for dinner, our ETA is 8pm. I will send an updated message closer to our actual arrival time.

We'll see you at TCCS in a few hours...
Day two is in the books and we lucked out with another beautiful day. While most of today's tour was indoors, we still managed to get plenty of sun (and just as much walking as yesterday) in.
After breakfast at the hotel, we headed to the FDR Memorial and Jefferson Memorial. Following our tour of these sites, we visited the United States Holocaust Museum for two powerful exhibits - "Daniel's Story" and "Some Were Neighbors".
When it was time for lunch, we hit the L`Enfant Plaza Food Court, where we had several dining options to choose from.
Then, we were off to NJ Representative Scott Garret's office to meet his staff and receive a behind-the-scenes tour from two of his interns.
We made history today as part of the largest population of tourists in the U.S. Capitol building in one day (approximately 11,000!), but still managed to have a great educational experience. After seeing the building's historical artifacts, rooms, and statues, we were able to sit in the gallery to observe the House of Representatives in session. The bill being discussed dealt with providing economic relief to Puerto Rico and was very interesting to witness in person.
After leaving the Capitol, we walked around the outside of the Library of Congress and Supreme Court buildings before dinner at Au Bon Pain.
There was time for some post-dinner souvenir shopping and then it was back on the bus for our trip back to the hotel.

Tomorrow, we will visit the outside of the White House before touring the Smithsonian. After that, we'll be heading home. We anticipate an arrival time of 7-8pm and will keep you updated with an actual time from the road.
Have a great night... See you tomorrow!
Today was a great (yet exhausting) first day of our trip! We had a smooth, rain-free, ride down to D.C. and beautiful weather all day.
We toured the WWII Memorial, Korean War Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, and the MLK Memorial (where we got to see the President's helicopter, Marine 1, fly right over us!)
After that, we took a short ride to Arlington National Cemetery to see several historic sites, including the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the eternal flame at JFK's grave. Then we were off to the Air Force and Battle of Iwo Jima Memorials before heading off to an Italian buffet dinner at Kora in Crystal City.
After dinner, we made a quick pit stop at Dairy Queen for desert before checking into the hotel.
The kids are all settled in and should sleep very well (Ms. Creange recorded over 18,000 steps on her Fitbit!)
